Neurosciences

Comprehensive brain, spine and nervous system care — our flagship Centre of Excellence.

Daihika Multi Speciality Hospital — formerly SVS Institute of Neurosciences — has anchored its identity in neurosciences since inception. Our Centre of Excellence integrates neurology, neurosurgery, pediatric neurology and neuro-rehabilitation in a single coordinated programme so that patients receive seamless evaluation, treatment and recovery support.

The CoE is led by senior consultants with 35–40+ years of experience and supported by a 40-bed ICU with a dedicated neuro sub-unit, a 96-slice cardiac CT suitable for high-resolution neuro-imaging, and a C-Arm DSA suite for neuro-interventional procedures including thrombectomy and embolisation.

For acute stroke, head injury and other neurological emergencies, our 24/7 emergency team is trained to act within the time-critical windows that determine outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

What are the early warning signs of stroke?
Use FAST — Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency. Sudden severe headache, vision loss, or difficulty walking are also red flags. Stroke treatment is time-critical, so call our emergency line on 040-4149 9999 immediately if you suspect one.
How quickly can I be seen for an acute neurological emergency?
Our Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 with neurology and neurosurgery on-call. For suspected stroke or head trauma, on arrival the patient is taken directly for assessment and CT imaging without waiting in OPD.
Do you treat children with neurological disorders?
Yes — we offer pediatric neurology consultations for conditions including epilepsy, developmental delay, headache and movement disorders. Please bring any prior records or scans to the first consult.
What is the difference between a neurologist and a neurosurgeon?
A neurologist diagnoses and medically manages disorders of the brain, spine and nervous system. A neurosurgeon performs surgical procedures when an operation is the right treatment. Many patients see both — the neurologist refers for surgery only when indicated.
How long is recovery after a major neurological event?
Recovery varies widely with the condition, severity and individual factors. Stroke and brain-injury patients often benefit from a structured rehabilitation programme over weeks to months. Our 20-bed step-down/rehab unit supports this phase.
